I have completed the optimization of the site, and its coming in Google SERPS. But the problem is at first position there is an inner page of one site.
This inner page is having no back links, not so great content(regarding my keyword search) and the site deals with hotels in the world. My keyword is City Breaks in Malta.
Then how this site is coming on the top?
What extra does google want from me?
Your suggestions please!!!

yes I noticed the internal page, and I couldn't find any external backlinks to it either.

It's linked internally, and the domain has some SERIOUS authority links (eg from the Guardian newspaper).

The page is quite well optimised and if you think objectively about it, is a highly relevant one too. Hats off to Google!

Your not far behind though, and I'm sure you can crack that one in time.

I think is very less competitive, "City Breaks in Malta" (with quotes) only shows 202 results...

I dont think with this keyword you can get a lot of traffic. And don´t worry for one keyword. I believe is better appears for 3 terms in SERP´s in top ten, than one time for a only first place in SERPS.

How did you determine which ones were "Authority Links"? Did you just happen to see that particular link and recognize it as one? Do you have a master list of these sites, or perhaps there is some additional method one can use to determine what are "Authority Links"

Is this something similar to what Google calls "Trusted Links"? Any ideas on how to determine what are "Trusted Links"?

Welcome to the forum!

I recognised the Guardian newspaper, it's a famous broadsheet in the UK and yes, I'm positive it would be a trusted site; similar to CNN, say.

If you want a list of trusted/authority sites do a search in Google for "http", with or without the quotes, and you'll see a nice long list.

Other methods; it depends on your market and area of interest, but any .gov site or .edu site (apparently), etc... and any respected (old) resource would probably be included.
