Good exchange link email request
Hi,
I'm trying to manage link building with some other sites right now.
I have read several newsletters, tutorials about link building, and I got an idea that i have to personalize every emails that i send.
Well, i have done it. I read carefully what those sites offered, and then wrote a personalized email about their product. But, still haven't got any good responds. I have sent 100 emails, but until now just got 12 replies! And it has been 2 weeks since i sent them.
Could anyone give me some advice about it, what's wrong?
Thx.

Well this is what SEOKid had to say about a similar question:
Quote:

Wyrickj, send me a private message with the email you used and I'll see if I can help you with it. Most of the time when I'm sending out emails I'll get a 10 - 15% response rate at BEST. Sometimes it's as low as 1%. There are a lot of factors like spam control, or peole just don't check their email, the site hasn't had work done to it in a year and a half.... also some people just don't know enough about seo to realize that getting a link exchange email is GOOD thing and a lot of people don't care about search engine results, they have advertising

A few tips I use to save time writing emails:
Build a email template (Cookie Cutter) then modfiy it each time you email a webmaster for personlization.
Put there link on your links page before you send them an email - Showing them you really are intrested in what they offer.

Hi, thx..
I have done what you said, put their links on my page first, and then emailing them.
Here is the sample :
Dear Webmaster,
( I used Webmaster here, cause i couldn't find their contact person name )
This time we would like to ask you for exchanging link because we think one of your product might give our clients some advantages.
We are data company, located in ......
As you might already knew, we are able to recover ALMOST all datas that are lost.
But there're some cases when we're unable to recover them.
When we saw your product : < the name of their product >,
we told ourself, this might be a solver for our clients!
If they could place their datas somewhere else, using your product,
they might not have to suffer much when their internal datas are lost.
They can easily recover it using your product.
The same as you, there might be cases where your clients are loosing their datas,
and they're seeking for a help. We will provide that service for them.
So, would you be one of our link exchange partners?
For you information, we have put a link to your site on our linking page
< url where i put their links >
You can navigate to that page from the main page by clicking <......> and then selecting <....> from the < category name >.
For you convenience We have written out the source code that best reflects thepage you are linking to
< our site details >
Please cut and paste this exact code into your source to reflect the most appropriate link
We thank you again for your linking to our site.
We hope we could enjoy the same benefits by exchanging link.
Best Regards,
Win

you said that your percentage was just about 10-15%?
So if we want to get 100links, at least we must send emails to 1000-1500 webmasters?
wow, that's a very... very.. very.. tough job..
thx again..

I stopped reading your email about half way through and I wanted to read it! Most of the webmasters you send to probably don't want to read it at all. Perhaps you should shorten it.

Before I forgot, my site PR is not bad : PR5 on its linking page, and PR6 on its main page. I sent requests to every site with PR4-5. So I think this is not about my PR, it's purely about my request emails.

Change your letter's title to "PR 6 link exchange" that will get their attention.
Then just state the details, we are PR 6 site with a PR 5 links page we've linked to you from HERE (insert where you linked) please link back using this code (Insert your website code) we have an automated system that check for reciprocal links every week regrettably if you have not linked back by then our system will remove this link. We hope you are able to get our link up in time so that we may both benefit in higher rankings from the exchange
Warm regards
Your name here

Hate to say it, but people are still so caught up in PR if you point out a link they just got for FREE and then present them with the prospect of losing it (But your not being a jerk about it because your claiming its automated) they will link back ASAP as they dont want to lose the link.
Part of the fun though is finding people that actually participate in link exchange, an easy way to do this is just type in (Relevant kw + link exchange) in google (Without the brackets or plus of course and kw is your keyword phrases. Should help you find the right people to deal with and increase your success.

Wow, thx SEO-Guy..
Never thought about that
Wanna ask you something, is it right that the percentage is just about 10-15% of getting replies from them?
About your email, should I change it a bit to make it personal? So afraid they will think it as a spam. But, it's really really good! So happy to get your advice.

Ah yes personalize all you like, dear whoever, I looked at your site XYZ but honestly dont go overboard trying to pass off a form letter as anything other then a form letter is an attempt to insult the recipients intellegence, they know what you want and they want the same thing so its best to cut to the chase
