XML Sitemap - links?

Hi,

I have been using a free service to generate my XML sitemap for my site, which I use to submit to G sitemaps. When I looked at the sitemap, I noticed that there was a reference to the website at the top of the sitemap like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <!-- Google Site Map File Generated by http://www.Sitemap-Generator-Name.com/ at Fri, 30 Jun 2006 17:26:03 +0200
-->
- <urlset xmlns="http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84">
- <url>
<loc>http://www.My-Domain.com/</loc>

Does the reference to the top have any positive effect on their site, by counting as a link to them in some way?

Yes................

<!-- Google Site Map File Generated by http://www.Sitemap-Generator-Name.com/ at Fri, 30 Jun 2006 17:26:03 +0200
you should remove this link and use just normal google sitemap.xml as most of the people use it.

What do you mean "normal google sitemap.xml as most people use it"?

I realize that I can remove the link, but I was wondering if there really is any reason to. Does it benefit the Sitemap generator site, and count as a link from my site to theirs?
