This is just a query... does anyone know what the search engines think about these?

If a link bomb is the same as google bombing....than i cant see that the search engines would be a huge fan of them. I dont have any proof, just from what i know about link bombs. A link bomb is a deliberate attempt to hijack a certain search phrase using link texts. As this is pretty blatant manipulation of the serps, i cant see how they would feel anything positive towards them.

Everyone remeber the link bomb for George W Bush a few years back? For a while if you searched Miserable failure, you'd get George Dubya's website. It was pretty funny, but i dont think you can find it like that any more.

yep, googlebombing and link bombing are the same thing ...and you can find Tony Blair's biography listed no. 1 for the term 'liar'...(still there from last May) And George B is still no 1 for the term 'failure'.

I have been spending to much time working. I need to spend more time on forums to learn whats really happening. I love it.

yes I do:-) I have seen a load of sites offering to link bomb via their 'network' but I am steering way clear of them. Personally I don't think it isn ethical way to go about boosting your listings, but I am really curious as to how they did it. It would seem rather obvious that the Blair camp was not reponsible for the link bomb, hence his biography site retains its listing for the term 'liar' which IMHO is a most apt description. But would the engines penalise a site that link bombed itself... and arre there any instances of this happenning... yadah yadah yadah.... and etc...

Well the trick is to Use your Link Text with preferred keywords that points to a certain site. With the Bush Miserable Failure, One person started it on his site with the Link text saying Miserable Failure and the actual link was pointing to Bush's Bio. Then he got more people to do the same thing on other sites. I believe it only took 33 links this way to get Bush at the #1 spot for Miserable failure. Also if you do a search for Miserable Failure, you will find (not only Bush's Bio as #1) many more articles about it. I hope i explained that well...


I have wanted to make my own google bomb...I would like to have the Keyword Environment Destroyer go to Encana's (Huge canadian oil company that is pretty much destroying ecuador) website. Accchh....but i wont go on my rant, you can read more about them on the Amnesty International site im sure. Anyways, i have wanted to make that link bomb but never really got the courage incase it worked....hahahahaha

Hahahah....when it comes to Amnesty International im a big fan. Human rights is pretty important to me, and i really enjoy the amnesty group im a party of, even if i am the youngest member by 25 years. Anyways, dont want to Hijack the thread, but i did want to say that all my rants are not SEO related so i should probably should save those for the General chat area.....
