aaron,

I'm not quite the guy to answer all that, but I will give it a shot.

The one thing that I noticed about your site is a lack of a sitemap, at least one that I could find. Having a sitemap would probably be a good idea as it makes it easier for spiders to crawl and index all of your pages.

However, I've never dealt with sites that have 26,000 pages, I don't think mine even has much more than 100. Every single page is indexed in google though, and all I've done is linking to the main page and a few of the more important product pages. That and a simple site map.

I'm sure you'll have some more info coming from some of the guys/gals on here that are more familiar with large sites.

Cheers,

Scott

Hi,

it used to be true that a huge site would give a boost in Google, but I'm not sure if does as much as it used to. Also Google are applying an aggressive duplicate content filter at the moment anyway, so I wonder if your competitor has all those pages fully indexed - you should check with the site command.

I would have thought 700 relevant pages with real text content would be enough, especially with your aggressive backlink campaign. You have a lot of reciprocals. Do you check them to make sure you are not linking to any banned sites? And I see you appear to be using sitewide exchanges, I'm really not sure about their value in Google.

Cheers,
Paz.

Hi Aaron,

the disney4 site looks completely broken in Google. I see your home page and 23 JFIF? files that Google thinks are pages eg.

яШяа JFIF И И яЫ C ...
яШяа JFIF И И яЫ C % # , #&')*) -0-(0%()(яЫ C ( (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( яА ...
http://www.disney4villas.com/images...psolana_image_4 - 23k

Looks like you need to block your image directory listing with htaccess.

The problem with orlando is you have identical description tags, and VERY similar title tags, so you've fallen foul of a duplicate content issue. The titles are borderline; I'm sure I've seen worse. I think the meta tags have just tripped it for you.

If you can't generate unique descriptions, I'd remove the tag completely and see how it goes. You have enough text content on the page for the SE's to generate a decent snippet.

Cheers,
Paz.

Hi,

sorry for the confusion I meant the orlando4 titles were too similar too each other.

Specifically you are using a formula in the title:

Quote:
Orlando 4 Villas - X bedroom Orlando villa in Y

where X and Y are variables.

I say it's borderline, because that normally would by unique enough, but you're using identical descriptions viz:
Quote:
Find Orlando Villas near disney-Rent Florida Holiday Homes 3-7 bedrooms, visit orlando4villas first,Florida Villa rentals with private pool and games room ...

and I think you've just pushed it too much in terms of duplicate content.

I would leave the titles as they are, make unique descriptions in the same way you make your titles. If you can't make the titles unique, then remove the description tag, let the search engines figure out their own snippet to use as a description, and see what happens.

When I do a siterlando4villas.com check in Google, I'm only seeing 30 of 676 pages with the message:
....we have omitted some entries very similar to the 30 already displayed.

I've found a few times now that if you can get nearly all your pages showing up with the site command, rather than just a handful, your rankings will improve shortly after.

Cheers,
Paz.

How does one know if they have great content on there?? i have been told that orlando4villas does have great content and this is the reason as to why it does so well on the search enginge.is my site map good enough for this kind of site or do you reccomend a Google Site Map?
Thank's

Hi,

Let's leave orlando villas as it is then. It's probably ranking well on the strength of it's backlink campaign alone, and a sitemap won't change anything either way.

The disney4 site doesn't have anything like the same backlink weight yet, and you may find that a Google sitemap will help. The coffecup sitemap software works pretty well, but it's not freeware.

As for your content, yes I can see that orlando4 has more content, particularly on the sales pages, but a search engine can't judge which is "better" content and has to rely on it's length and "uniqueness". It used to be the case that you could flood the search engines with junk pages and Google especially has worked hard to filter out a lot of junk content. In my veiw, that's part of the reason why unique and relevant titles and descriptions are so important.

They don't help in rankings directly, but repeated titles and descriptions throughout a site are often an indicator of a site that isn't much of a resource.

Hope I'm making sense... LOL
