Kate - I have the same issue with Yahoo. I am having some trouble ranking for my keyword phrases but in google, I have #1 rankings....any thoughts? My niche or market is not very competitive either. Is it because I am not in the Yahoo directory?

Yahoo! focuses on content, MSN on links and Google as we all know is a mix of those two and a bit more. Look at search results and you'll see that Yahoo uses more characters on the display title and description...so here is a chance to optimze a bit more. sometimes we only focus on the first few characters as Google only displays so many, but remember to keep writing well for Yahoo and for overall SEO purposes. Note, do not do the Yahoo! $299 inclusion program...very bad unless you're willing to pay the fee every year.

My latest experience is that Yahoo seems to have made some changes. I have a few sites that used to be No.1 at Yahoo for some keyword phrases. Now these sites' rankings at Google have been climbing, but rankings at Yahoo have been dropping. I used to believe Yahoo paid attention to both links and contents, but now I am not sure.
It seems like MSN focuses more on content, Google on backlinks. Yahoo used to be somewhere in between, but now I am not sure.

Actually Monte, Yahoo Directory can be very helpful.....and it is pretty clear that they charge 299, so its not really a sneaky trick..
