My website has been around for about 3 months. I am still no where to be found in the SERPS. Anyways, i would appreciate it if you could comment on my site structure and see if you have any pointers in how I can optimize it more for my keywords. Thanks in advance!

I think you need to try and target a locatioal area. Think of the thousands of people trying to target web design on the Net. Not only that , people that design websites are generally pretty good and most even sell SEO skills. See what you are up against?

Try and target a more limited area. I live in Scotland and i have SEO d for Website Design Scotland and score pretty high on most search engines apart from the dreaded G.

By G i mean Google. Late last year they changed the way they ranked sites and Google now relies more on incoming links than anything else. This site has an unbelievable 21,000 incoming links, yes that isnt a typo i did say thousand. See what kinda competition you are up against?

Good idea, maybe I'll optimize my keywords to include my state new jersey in them. Most c lients I have are in my state anyways - I find people mostly choose a design firm that is located near them.

Yeah Im in a similar game, to get anywhere people are going to see you in a search like 'professional web design' is a big thing. I bet there's millions of sites in the search that you are competing with. Web Design companies who have been around a while always put links on about every page they produce ( as should you ) so catching up is quite hard if they're pr6/7 Go to digitalpoint.com and look at their keyword suggestion tool. You might find some good searches like the others said locally... I'd put your directory pages as one click deep as well to give them reasonable PR; just so you can step up your link building campaign also. Most webmasters want a PR4 link for a PR4 link etc or some incentive to link to your site. As PR 0 you may find it more difficult...

How about table use, some people from different boards claim spiders will only read up to 4 tables deep and stop after that. Is it true search engines will only look into so many tables and then stop?

My website is rather complex w/ table use.

I have analyzed the source coding to some of the top ranking web design companies in google.com and they also use a large amount of tables in their coding.

So i'm assuming this is a myth and as long as your code validates you should be fine?

If you just need the SE to find and index the text, and you're not concerned with structuring the document logically, they don't seem to care about nested tables. The only issue to them in this context is whether you've got so much code (over 100kb, I think) that they're going to stop indexing before they reach the end.

The real problem with nested tables is that some browsers have a hard time displaying the pages. They may need to parse through the entire file before anything shows up on the user's monitor.

And of course there's the issue that tables were never intended as a way of laying out a page. I make every effort (within my limited design capabilities) not to go beyond one nested table. I prefer a single table, but I'm not always able to achieve the look a client wants that way. But I never nest a table in a table in a table.

UPDATE: I ripped a lot of text out of my page and pretty much condensed everything. Now instead of filling up nearly two pages i'm just a little over one. Hopefully it it less confusing for the viewers now.

Still don't know if i like the top image header all blue. Think i shoudl throw in some color?
