Black hat SEO: Parasite Hosting - a controversial topic
[I have chosen the Google Forum for this topic, since parasite hosting mainly targets the Google Sandbox effect.]
Parasite hosting definately is a controversial topic, like other black hat techniques - I have performed a search on this forum and there haven't been any discussions about it, yet. The forum rules didn't contain any "black hat topic discussions forbidden"-paragraphs, so I am starting a discussion on this topic myself now.
Although most of us here - including me - are only using white hat SEO, we shouldn't shut our eyes to the fact that there are many successful black hat SEO techniques - often too risky for important long term projects, but successful at least for reaching certain short term objectives.
Despite the fact that I neither use black hat SEO myself nor want to encourage anyone in doing so, I do find it interesting and important to educate myself in this part of SEO - knowing that our competitors in many fields of Search Engine Optimization are using these doubtful techniques in order to rank better than we do.
Let's take the example of parasite hosting: Parasite hosting is used by black hat SEOs in order to avoid or shorten the period in which Google applies a filter to the impact of inbound low-authority/low-trust links for new websites - commonly named "Google Sandbox effect". Accordingly, parasite hosting enables black hat SEOs to rank their new sites appropriately a lot earlier than usual, without the need of waiting for receiving natural links from domains with a high trust factor, through white hat techniques like link baiting - which may shorten the Sandbox effect equally.
I assume that Google will try to find an automated way to stop this kind of abuse by the implementation of yet another algorithm, and I wonder if this will either penalize the spammers or just neutralize the impact of parasite hosting.
What are your thoughts on this topic? Let's start a discussion, please post your opinions on black hat seo in general or parasite hosting in particular.
