Major Yahoo Search Marketing Billing issue

when checking my yahoo stats this morning, firstly i noticed loads of hits. great i thought, but then i noticed that i had £10,000 in reserve, checked further and someone had transferred that from my credit card which is kept on file.

I phoned them, they pointed out that my postal address had also been changed, and that my default bid had been changed from 30p to £8 amongst other things.

First they said, no problem, we'll refund the money, then after chasing they changed their minds and said it was a legitimate transfer, and i should take it up with the police and the card company. Police say it is only for the card company, say it apears legitimate, but have referred it to their fraud investigation department, waiting time upto ten days.

I can’t see what the hacker was hoping to achieve, except to damage my mode of business. there is no way for them to extract the money from the yahoo account.

I have been advised that it will probably all work out financially, but will probably ruin relationship with yahoo.

Yahoo refuse to supply me with the offenders IP address, i’m pretty sure it’s been hacked from outside, we have pretty good firewalls and security here. But the password was a fairly easy one.

Anyone have any similar experience or suggestions?

It so sad to hear about this. What i think only Yahoo can help you(if they are willing to do so).You must check the source of clicks...what if hacker is using YPN and taking benefit of your high bidding?

Red face

for the record, yahoo has fixed everything, i was frustrated at first, but i guess 4 days is not that bad for a full resolve....

although they are not allowed to tell me what happened, it sounds like they know exactly what did happen.

i wonder if google would have been so responsive and positive?
