Yes ,Google has again updated PR and Backlinks on the 28th of Feb 2008.This update is possibly conducted with a different set of algorithms.If this is official ,then it will be the second update for PR and backlinks for the year,considering it had updated PR and backlinks last January contrary to only 3 updates last year.As for me this time I was Unlucky,not only did I loose my backlinks my PR too decreased.If there is anyone who has any significant proof of this update kindly share it with us here

Is PR important?

I have a website that was released in December 2006, within 2 weeks it had got to PR4 and was bringing in thousands of uniques per day and Google was lapping it up. Almost every single visitor was being referred by Google..

When I released it, the domain was new and had never been used, I don't know how it got PR so quickly..

During the middle of 2007, Google in it's infiniate wisdom decided to downgrade my PR, I dropped down to a PR2. The traffic didn't decrease though. In fact it remained the same, possibly improving as new pages wee added.

For some reason, during the last PR update (within the last 2 weeks or so) my site has lost even more PR, I am now PR0 and not very happy about it..
The funny thing is though, I have not dropped any traffic. I get the same or more visitors reffered from Google than I ever did.

Just what is the point of PR? because in my opinion from an SEO point of view it isn't worth anything.

In my opinion, Google decides whether it likes a site within the first few hours of visiting a site for the first time. If when the bot visits the signal is good, your site will be popular and remain popular until you screw up, if your site looks spammy at all, you will always have a spammy site and Google won't look twice. You will always remain at the bottom of the serps.

Folks PR only means anything if you are selling links.

Focus on your organic rankings, forget about the "litte-green-bar-of-lies" it will probably be one of the best things you can do for your website.

Yeah, PR really isn't that important. My most profitable site is a PR3
