Can Any body will help me regarding dynamic site?
Hi,
Hello to every body plz help me as i am handling a dynamic site all it urls looks like
http://www.domianname.com/catagoryn...e.aspx?id=10169
This portal is developed in .net since my server is windows server then how can i change these urls to search engine friendly urls.
i had go through webconfs.com and with the help of their tool genrated a search engine friendly url but there is info like (a code put that code in .htaccess file and upload in catogry(root) )
so my question is this can i put .htaccess file in windows server as know that we only put .htaccess file in linex server if we donot put .htaccess file in windows server then can some one tell me that what is other ways to handle this problem(dynamic urls)

do a mod_rewrite, check for the options looking in google for mod_rewrite + your server type
|

You can rewrite Windows server urls with isap-rewrite;
http://www.isapirewrite.com/
Version 3 works pretty much the same as htaccess but with a slightly different syntax. They do have a forum and a guide that will help you through most scenarios.
There's a limited, free version or you can buy the fuilly functional version for $100.

on another note, a good cms will let you write search friendly urls very easy.

Yabbit, I think Paz hit it on the head... if there isn't a rewrite component installed on a Windows server the software isn't going to help.
That and ISAPI_Rewrite is the bomb!

rewriting of url done by using htaccess file ..and i think it is easy and reliable method..

Onsisoni, please have a quick read of the thread before pulling the trigger.
On a Windows server you can rewrite using .htaccess with ISAPI_Rewrite 3 only, or at least I've not seen anything else.
