Not sure if this has been discussed here before. We have some clients who want us to work with them exclusively, so they have a competitive edge over their competition. It is understandable request since we give them good SEO results.

It is hard to turn down the request from existing clients who have been with you for a long time and always pay their bills. But it is hard not to pursue new business opportunities.

What would you guys do when clients ask for exclusive SEO service? Thanks in advance!

why not do it??? Take care of your customers, and they will take care of you..

Maybe agree to be exclusive for their set of keywords but not in the industry as a whole?
if they are using you exclusively, will they pay you if the site drops? Cause you really have no control over that..

I woul go with snap, agree to exclusive set of keywords for that specific market - let's say google US etc. so that you do not work for "ONLY" their direct competitors. We do this for all customers by default. Also once you stop working for a customer, you should specify until what time you will adhere to this exclusivity.

I personally think it is not good to work with 2 competing clients. Sooner or later you will be competing with yourself and risk losing both business and credibility.
