PR0 Link Exchange Being Refused
I have been getting my link requests refused quite a bit because my links pages are brand new and have no PR. I even had one guy write back stating that linking to me would DRAG HIS SITE DOWN!
So, I have just created the following page in an attempt to both educate and appease people like the one I just mentioned:
http://www.amenta.com/links/index.htm
I wonder if some people here might take a look at this page and tell me if I seem to be coming off as condescending or in any other way insulting. Also, if there are any other sources of information that you think I should add, I would be interested to learn of them. Finally, if anyone likes the idea of this page, feel free to copy it and use it in any way you please.
Thanks!

yeah I think its a bit too much. You should just have a little sentence at the top that says something similair to "concerened with pr?" then have a few links to a couple of different resouces that discuss this pr issued. Maybe a few tutorials and some forums.
I just think having a whole page dedicated to telling people pr doesnt matter could lose alot of potention link parterners and discourage them.
Good luck with things

I feel your pain. Lot of webmasters still think PR is what ranks them. I always send a long a little note educating them that PR is not what makes you rank.
Google should say "PR is not what gets you ranked" so that way we don't have to bash other webmasters saying "Oh you need a PR6 to do an link exchange with me"
I really want to roast them over a fire after they say that. Not aiming at people that know PR has no / hardly any ranking effects.
Webmasters that think PR brings them higher rankings then 'GET A LIFE AND STOP BY THIS FORUM AND READ THIS POST" - Sorry just can't stand people that say you need this PR to do link exchange.

I would say just wait on the link exchanges then. register with directories, write articles and that sort of stuff... perhaps get more into the link exchange stuff after you show pagerank?

You can also tell people that Toolbar PR hasn't been updated for a while, but probably PR is updated. You can forward them to this my post as a proof.
I'm 100% sure now that PR is constantly changes, and toolbar PR means only that site hass been there before July (if I'm not mistaken that was when Toolbar PR was updated).
So, exchange links, send 10 times more invitations and if only 10% of people will exchange - that means you have achieved the same amount of links as you wanted.

Personally I've not had any success educating others about the current situation for those that depend on the PR display. They either know and it's cool, or don't and it's not. I just move on and keep the data so if it is ever updated I'll just do a mailing.

He he he You probably shouldn't have the ad that you have at the top of your page if you want to convince people that PR doesn't matter

Hey, you need to concentrate on VOLUME. Plus, make sure you put up the links before you request a link back. You will get 85% or more no-responses or delines. Focus on the 10% to 15% that will accept.
