Reciprocal Linking Dead?

On other boards i have been readin that some argue that reciprocal linking is dead and some argue it's not.

Well, i personally feel, it's NOT dead. It still works as great as it did before!

I would certainly like to hear what other people have to say on this board!

3-way linking is better but reciprocal is not dead too. There are millions of sites on google ranking in top earning top $$$ with ONLY reciprocal linking (have seen many casinos sites like that as well)

Any thoughts?

Sunny

I posted this to this on an other Forum...

Well basically all my links before the last update were recip. links. Only on topic links...
The last update did not kick me on top of the SERPS because a bunch of non-repic. links were added.
So before and after it's basically the same. If recip. linking was bad... I should not have been ranking good at all before.

Now lets say I have a super site... and see an other super site and feel like I should give him a link so my visitors can go there and find information I don't have.
He figures the same and accept to link to me... now we both have great sites and do help our visitors find more information...
Do you really think that these would become invalid and be penalized for supplying good service to visitors?
Reciprocal MIGHT be ignored for non-related linking... but if you are on topic, it would be the most idiotic action to ignore these.
Reciprocal MIGHT be less valueable than one-way even on topic... But I can't say it does... So I don't worry about it.

The big picture is basically ... get links.

If I was google I would consider giving more credit to a 'non recip link' than to a reciprocate link, the first one being a 'free vote' and the second a somehow conditional vote.
Of course on topic link would be the most valuable one regardless.

relaxzoolanders common sense seo tip of the week

relaxzoolanders common sense seo tip of the week:

regardless of whether recip/rocal lin/king is alive...dying...dead...or in intensive care...
lets stop be so reactionary in our methods and start trying to plan our seo strategies a little farther out than this mornings rankings.
common sense says that recip/rocal lin/king...if not already targeted for extermination....is certainly a very logical choice for it some time soon.
so...if you can get better links now [non-reciprocal and relevant]...as in...if you have a choice...then by all means....get them.

I have no proof of it - but it just makes sence....

Goes with the links.html idea.....

If they have ways to filter this stuff out..... Why wouldn't they.....

There search is build on relitive links....

Neither links.html nor reciprical links are relevent....

We know what links are the best....

Inside article links!

I wouldn't doubt if there targeting links surrounded by text the most....

it's definitely not dead.

it may be devalued somewhat, but it's not dead.

our recip links help us a ton, we had a huge boost in serps when they added us
