Question Trying to find the right keyword combination

How does one go about finding the right keyword density for content pages? Also, can a content page rank high for 2 or 3 diffrent subjects?
Should I use an anylizer and try to follow suit?

A general rule of thumb is that you don't want to go above 7% keyword density on any of your pages. However, in extremely competitive keyword industries you're going to see a higher keyword density. For example, the number 1 ranked site for the keyword "online casino" has a 14% density for that keyword - almost double the suggested maximum!

On the flip side, if you were to search for "forums" shows www.delphi.com as the number 3 ranking and they don't have the word "forums" on their page at all. I use Delphi as an example because I'm 99% sure they're not using any cloaking techniques.

What it really comes down to is the recommended density is just that, a recommendation. You may need to play with density by moving it up or down depending on the industry you're targeting.

As for your second question,

Of course a single page can rank for more than one keyword. The SEO Guy homepage (www.seo-guy.com) ranks number 1 for SEO Company and SEO Optimization, and currently is number 2 for SEO Services. And that's all from our homepage.

We recommend, however to target a maximum of 3 keywords per page intentionally (there's always lots of unintentional keyword combinations on a large site), and go from there.

Thumbs up

Hey, Thanks Bob, Thats some really helpful info.
Oh, one more question,
Would it help to put a keyword into google, and check out the top 10 listings, for some type of keyword density, to get an idea of what is working ?

And is there some type of tool, that will do this for me?
Thanks again!

Hey RideQuality,

Our spider simulator which is located in the SEO Guy tools http://www.seo-guy.com/seo-tools/spider.php will figure out the density of your competitors for you. the information you'd be looking for are on the second page of the results.

Be careful, however. I've been seeing some information lately that is starting to show that less may be more. I've been working with a couple sites that are being penalized for having too much density, when it's only at 2 or 3% onpage. I know that I'm not sure what's been happening lately.

Morgan/seo guy (whatever your androgenous name is),

I would hardly call you a regular jedi... you're more of an esteemed council member. You're the one who's teaching me to build my own lightsaber.
