we have a website indexed within google. It has not taken a placing for over 4 months and is not within the top 100, yesterday it moved to rank 4 , for the day , and now its gone again.


???? any ideas

I've seen similar reported when a site is first launched but not after four months. Any recent changes with links?

same here

I am facing very similar scenario.
Was on 4-5th page and went to first page (#4) for 1-2 days and then dropped back.
My site is older though.
I hope we saw a glimpse of a future change...

Could have been G testing some changes to the algo. Once your site is more established (more links, more content) it will fluctuate less with minor algo changes-but you will still be vulnerable to major changes.

Google were testing earlier this week prior to the increase in # of pages (over 8 billion now).
I speculate this could be a by-product of some sort of testing but got nothing firm to rely on...
