SERPS all over the place!
Anyone else noticing the serps on G** are all over the map. I have keywords that I was in the top 10 that are now in the 200's and I have some keywords that I wasn't anywhere that I now rank in the top 20. I wonder if something might be brewing as far as maybe a BL update, a major serps change or...? Who knows! Just wondering if anyone else was seeing this?

Yes, I have noticed this for our site as well. I have been seeing a lot of googlebot activity today so hopefully all will settle in a few days.

Yeah... got deepcrawled on the 8th... so it would be a good time for the shaking to take place now. It will settle and everything will go back to where it was. Unless they did some good algo tweaking.

I gained 5,500 pages on my site, but the SERPs fell even more than before. Over the weekend I noticed that the -in- datacenters were showing some strange results, with my allinanchor / SERP listings taking a hit...today they are off the map completely.
Time for a nap.

You should not be looking at serps when the jumping is going on. When I see the jumping start, I stop looking at serps for a while, specially that stuff reverts to old cache, indexed pages disapear... until the update is done, these serps are just not worth looking at except to make you feel like having a nap.
When I see a deepcrawl in my logs, I look at the serps for notes, then forget about it until the shaking settled, then I look. Most of the time, it's the same old serps I see.
Since backlinks updates are really crap and useless, PR updates are like rain and no big party anymore, you get higher % of frustrations out of this after stripping those fun events out. So I strip as many frustrations out of it has I can to maintain the fun level... lol

Lately I got very busy on the software I make, so in the last 4-5 weeks I looked maybe 2-3 times. And it's sometimes even cool... when you look often, you move a few spots, when you look rarely you move a lot more (either way, of course). So you feel more like something is going on because of your work. Got those tricks in group therapie...

Usually when the SERPs start acting up I try to go nuts on the link exchanges...(I was probably in the same group therapy with you)
However, this update feels differently from those in the past year -- yes, the backlink update was pretty pathetic, and PR doesn't seem to have moved, but the wide, wide drops/increases in the SERPs has an old dance feel to it. I remember the pain of Florida vividly...
Too bad Yahoo has gone nuts and MSN beta still isn't ready; I can't figure out if this is SEO heaven or SEO hell.

Who can forget florida, and between you and me, I think it's been a while since they did a kickass algo tweak, the last major one being Brandy. I would not be surprised we get one soon...
