Revolving links
A new site has appeared very high in one of the Serps we watch.At the bottom of every page it has a coloured bar with outgoing links.Every time you refresh the screen the outgoing links change.It is just like those billboards which change as you watch.
This is then offered across all 4000 pages on the site.
As far as i can see , all it does is negate the need for a links page and gives run of site exposure for reciprocal links...but only at certain times
Is this black hat or just a cute marketing tool with no real SEO benefits?

Well, there's nothing black hat about it. As far as the benefit you'd have to look at the sites to which it links.

it sounds similair to the digitalpoint.com co-op network. Which this also benefits that website since their site is listed on the network as well. This is a huge benefit for backlinks with your keywords as anchor text. Probably explains why they came up on the serps pretty quick.

seriously ... it's not black hat, although the proud to be white hats will tell you it is. whether or not it lasts, time will tell ... but it's not designed to be a free for all ... it's a way to advertise your site on other sites ... are banner exchanges link farms?
granted ... it does have some rather intoxicating side effects.

I've been using the coop since November, and the results for my site have been awesome! You can join using the link in my sig.. Takes a few months to see some solid results, but it's worht the wait!

Thankyou, it was COOP. There are quite a few threads on the digital point forum.It looks like it has been enthusiastically received.Not sure i will take them up on the offer though, looks like it might be construed as artificial links(????), but for the moment all seems well.
I have another question on this website but will start a fresh thread for that
