Proof that Blogging Gets you out of Google's "Sandbox"...
First off, apologies if this topic was already covered....
3 months. That's how long it took to "blog" on almost a daily basis, and to keep on efforting to get ranked for my chosen keywords. However, today when I did my usual check for keywords, I noticed that my blog appeared in Google, but not the website.
MSN and Yahoo already had the blog ranked well (top 20), but to see this verification in Google was truly a revelation.
Here's the story.
I launched my blog on February 10th, 2005 and have been pretty consistent about adding to it at least 4 times a week. Then today (May 16, 2005, just about three months) the blog appears in the SERPs.
Here's the search results:[#9, for the blog, #127 for the website] (seo for google)
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...gle&btnG=Search
So....
GET BLOGGING!!!!

I launched the site on January 3rd, 2005 - and the blog on Feb 10th, 2005.
However, after further review, I am wondering if the ranking appeared because of Blogspot.com, and not the blog in general.

How much traffic are are you getting from Google. I don't think Google can tell that it is a Blog, I think it's the frequency of updates Google like.

I get about 40% of my traffic from G. 30% comes from MSN, 10% from Yahoo and 20% comes from various sources (direct urls, press releases and articles).
...don't want to have too many eggs in one basket, right? :-P

you means that website can get out of sandbox by using blog?
I don't think so, first, a blog page need long time to be indexed in google, second, the link of blog need long time to become valued link, even if a blog page can rank well, the effect on website's ranking will be very very little!!

This is interesting. However, like some of the others, I'm not so sure it has to do with the blog as much as the frequent updating.
What is your web site positioning in Google now? Is it possible that your web site isn't in the sandbox but is going through the aging delay process that many are talking about?

"What is your web site positioning in Google now" -
Funny you mention that. I am seeing something very bizarre.
I have a list of over 35 Google datacenters, and I went through everyone and entered my #1 keyword phrase (seo for google) - on average, the site shows up between 110 - 130.
However, when I just call up Google in my browser, without choosing any particular datacenter and do the same search, my site shows up at #5. At work, I am located in Pittsburgh, PA, so I'm not sure how or why this one particular datacenter is showing different results.
When I try the same thing from home (about 30 miles north and a different ISP) - I get fed the other results (110-130).

I gotcha on page 2 at position eleven. Pretty cool you are up there with some heavies in the Seo of Google. I thought "for" was a stop word? Hmmmpf
