Hello All,
I'd like to request a site review
OK here we go,
My URL:
http://www.timesheetsmts.com
Targetted Key Words (figures in brackets are searches per day on Overture):
timesheet software (108.4)
time tracking software (190.3)
free timesheet software (4.1)
free timesheet (11.2)
project time tracking (17)
timesheet (402.1)
time sheet (272.6)
time sheet software (61.2)
timesheets (?)
SEO Done So Far:
I have 5 key pages that I am trying to optimise, these are
index.htm
freesoftware.htm
timesheetslite.htm
timesheetsmts.htm
resources.htm
/phpBB2/index.htm
My internal link structure is such that there is a text link to all of these pages from every page. My other content pages have only javascript links except from the sitemap.htm page where text links are available for spidering for all my content. Sitemap.htm has a text link from these key pages to make sure it is spidered.
I've tried to target the keywords as follows for my key five pages:
index.htm : timesheet software,time-tracking software, project time tracking
freesoftware.htm :timesheet software, free timesheet software, time tracking, timesheet freeware, free timesheet
timesheetslite.htm : timesheet software, free timesheet software, time tracking, timesheet freeware, free timesheet
timesheetsmts.htm :timesheet software, expense reporting, time and expense tracking, project time tracking
resources.htm : timesheet software, resources, timesheets
In addition I've tried to re-write the copy to include my chosen keywords on each page. I've also tried to make use of keywords in anchor text where possible, as well as alt tags for images, and title tags for links. Other small things are including the full URL for the home link, and using my main keyword as the anchor text for this link.
Recently I've posted a couple of decent articles on the resources page but I'm not sure how best to use these to build visitors.
I've also recently posted a new site (
http://www.moving-target-software.htm) that is more of a company focussed site. It includes a weblog that I am hoping will build some traffic and thus be a decent referrer to my product site. I'm not sure if this is ethical or not but the weblog will (and does) contain some valuable information so I'm pretty comfortable with it. I've spent a lot of time trying to search for suitable links and have my site listed on a ton of shareware sites and appropriate directories (google/dmoz/etc etc) but the vast majority of these links are worthless. Hence the reason for starting this new site. I'm hoping it might create a PR4 or PR5 link at sometime in the future.
Results of all this so far for my keywords in Google are:
timesheet software: position 27
time tracking software: No ranking
free timesheet software: position 7&8
free timesheet: position 3&4
project time tracking: no ranking
timesheet: no ranking
time sheet : no ranking
time sheet software: no ranking
timesheets: position 126
My efforts for the last 3 weeks have been largely focussed on the keyword "timesheet software" which has been quite successful, improving traffic by around 20% for the last two weeks. However, I'd really like to pick up on some of the "timesheet", "time tracking software", and "time sheet" action. I'm stumped as how to do this without killing my ranking for "timesheet software".
Soooo, please review my site and how well I've done the above SEO. What I've done wrong, poorly, or should have done differently. What else can I do?Be harsh, I've got big shoulders
