When Google Caches old links!

Guys there is this problem I keep facing;when I put a site on a test link it gets caught by the spiders, then it takes me forever to update the link!

Please advise.

Hi,

you and me both.... but when you say forever, how long are we talking about? Sometimes the SE's can update a few hours (eg MSN) sometimes the same day (eg Google) and sometimes never (eg Yahoo).

Always, when a new page of mine gets spidered the index is updated shortly afterwards - a bit more info about your site and the link would help. But if it's a test link, you shouldn't post a valid link here, because it will mess up your test. Disguise the link, or PM it to me, and I'll have a look.

Cheers,
Paz.

There is one school of thought to create urls that are never deleted and work even if you change programming languages. You can always stop linking to the old pages, and you can alert people viewing the old pages that they should look elsewhere.

And you always use the no index tag. Also, I believe google has a form for requesting url removals, don't they?
