link exchange

when we carry out link exchange with other site , if we use a html link page and the other party use an automated link exchange software that keep our link in their database, is it considered fair link exchange, does the search engine treat the link in the databse equal to link in html page.

Hi,

it's a difficult question. Some html links can be disguised so that they are not SE friendly links (by as using hidden a no-follow tag, or metatags), and some php links can be manipulated too. Also, some links look ok but they can be easily changed later...

What can I say, it's a difficult game, but with experience you will learn what works and what doesn't.

If you have questions about any link exchanges, maybe you should ask here first?

Cheers,
Paz.

Hi, I want to know ---

1)Should I reciprocate link with PR0?
2)Pages with PR3 or less are counted by google while calculating back links?
3)How much link popularity is important for google, today (after LSI)?

I am looking forward....

I swap links with pr0 all the time. Google counts all links that are indexed. How many links you will need depends on how competitive your keywords are. Do a check on the current top ten's link popularity. That should give you a guide.

Hi,

hope you got my PM!

>1)Should I reciprocate link with PR0?

Yes. If it is relevant, and the page is cached, is accessable from the front page, and not obfuscated somehow by any tricks.

>2)Pages with PR3 or less are counted by google while calculating back links?

Very likely, yes. These days, G places a high value on relevancy.

>3)How much link popularity is important for google, today (after LSI)?

No one knows for sure, but I'm focussing my campaign on backlinks, and seeing my serps and referrals increasing still. I see no reason to change at the moment.

Cheers,
Paz.
