Hi Nalini,

It does take time, I don't think you'll see anything in the toolbar until the next PR update, but the links should get passed on before then. How are you doing in the serps for your keywords?

I also see that you've dropped a few pages in the Google index. How long has it been like that?

Cheers,
Paz.

Hi Paz,
Thanks for your reply

I could not understand this. It is not showing any good results in SERPs. And pages are dropped after the redirection.

Looking forward for your reply,

Hi,

I mean that it takes time for Google to remove the old non "www" pages and add the new ones. The process doesn't always occur simultaneously and there will be a period where you will be in limbo as you are now, and you have to hang tough.

Have a look here to see how it can run for someone who redirected with a mod rewrite:

One thing has occurred to me though. Normally people redirect from the low PR domain to the high one.... you've done it the other way around.

Cheers,
Paz.

What should I do? Should I go to www.chesssetstore.com (PR 0) to chesssetstore.com (PR 5), Or the reverse way? I am redirecting from chesssetstore.com to www.chesssestore.com. Isn't it the correct way? Please Suggest me.

Hi nalini,

I have to be straight with you and tell you it would have been better to redirect from the low PR to the high PR (ie from the pr0 to the pr5). I've never heard of anyone doing it the other way around, so I don't know how it will go for you.

If I were you, I would reverse the redirect, and it will cause you a lot of problems short term, but you should probably wait for a other members to give their opinions.

dddougal sometimes backlinks are split between example.com and www.example.com and that's a waste of resources in Google. That's often why people do the redirect.

Cheers,
Paz.

I would redirect the non-www to the www version of the url. Why... because most people that will add your link to their pages will use the www.domain.com version (natural links). The ones you do an exchange with will do it as you ask and not put the www as per your request, but a natural link is done without your opinion and they will most probably use the www version for that.

Thanks for you opinion. I was also thinking that redirection should be from non-www to www and I have done it also. Lets hope the properties of chesssetstore.com will be provided to www.chesssetstore.com
