Reverse engineering the SE spiders
Something unsual happen to me the other day, which might turn into something useful for everybody here. I was number one on Yahoo for my keywords for a long time then all of the sudden I was gone and I mean gone entirely. Well I waited for a few weeks, reviewed my site for problems (found some oops!) then got worried I might be blacklisted altogether (I think my competition reported me). Anyway to the point of all this. I checked my IP address with a few DNSBL tools and did not see any problems Well within an two hours of using those tools my log files show visits from MSN, Google, Yahoo, Alexa, Alta-Vista and some smaller SE spiders. Now this seems very strange that they all came at the same time and in such a small time frame. Do you think they monitor these IP searches. And could this be used to get our updates reviewed faster???
By the way now I'm back on top with Yahoo and I'm even on top of some SE's where I wasn't even listed before.
